March 11th-15th

Team Urban,

Students have been putting forth the effort this past week with ELA IAB Benchmarks. I am seeing so much growth academically, but also mentally. Many are persevering and it is showing in their test scores! Also, the class set a goal to get 4.6 as a cumulative goal for the STAR reading test.  If they meet the goal, they will receive donuts for the class. They not only met the goal but exceeded it with a 4.8!! Go Team Urban!!  Great job reading this last trimester!! Keep it up!!

Thank you so much for sending the emails to get the free book buddy.  By doing so, our class has received over $600 in gift cards to the School Store website.  Thank you so much for your generosity.  I have already purchased two swivel stools for the classroom, several books requested by the students, and crafts for the end of the year.

Week of March 18th-Conference Week Our class will be having our classroom open on Wednesday, March 20th from 1:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for student-led conferences. Come by and see your child present their progress to you!

Feb. 26th-March 1st

 Team Urban,

I hope this message finds you well.

I'm excited to share some news with you all. Under the guidance of Admin, we've decided to kick off a fundraiser that we believe will greatly benefit our campuses and our teachers!

This fundraiser isn't just any ordinary one—it's a simple yet incredibly impactful initiative that not only supports us as staff but also contributes to the betterment of our school as a whole. We've done our homework and looked into schools that have implemented similar programs in our area, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

One nearby school saw an impressive $17,000 go directly back to their teachers!

Here's how it works:

Students and staff can visit Schoolstore.com and easily locate our school. Once selected, they'll be taken to a page featuring various categories and merchants. By making purchases from these merchants—like Kohl's, Macy's, Sam's Club, Disney Store, Verizon, Best Buy, AT&T, and many more—a percentage of the sales will directly benefit our school.

The Class with the most sign-ups by Friday, March 1st, will receive cookies from CookieCo!

Thank you all for your support and participation. Your dedication is truly appreciated!

February 28th - March 4

Team Urban,

Snow much fun at school!

Reading Logs: For 2nd trimester, I noticed several BLANK reading logs for nightly reading homework.  As a result of this, many students had a difficult time making their AR reading goal, or not making their reading goal at all, this last trimester.  Just a reminder to students and parents that there should be 4 entries each school week with now
30 minutes of nightly reading each night.

Conferences: As we approach student-led conferences I just wanted to remind parents that ILCS grades on end of year mastery. This means that we are working towards mastery by the end of third grade and report cards are a reflection of where they are with their mastery of 3rd grade standards.

Keep in mind, when looking at assessment logs, the % score is composed of several standards assessed in that test to come up with a total score. For example, a Reading Test score of 80% is made up of several reading/writing standards. Within those standards being assessed, there can be a standard or so that a student is not showing mastery even though an 80% is achieved.  Sign and return February Assessment Logs that were sent home yesterday.

Service Projects
Please remember that ILCS is a leadership school and service is something we value greatly. Your kiddo is required to complete a service project and 8 hours of service and their projects are due early May.
