Woohoo! Happy 3 day weekend! I hope you all have a relaxing weekend! Due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday, if your child is normally scheduled to attend Second Session on Monday, please note they will attend on Friday.
Assessment Logs for August went home today. I encourage you all to log in to Pearson to review any of the questions pertaining to the test scores on the paper. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. There are no retakes on these tests as the standards will be addressed again at another time in the trimester(s).
Picture day is this Friday, September 6th. Envelopes went home on Friday for Picture Day. Please bring the envelope filled out with your child's name even if you are not purchasing pictures. It helps with the organization of yearbook pictures and identification of each student.
Our focus this week:
ELA:
-Respond to reading questions with RACE-Continue reading The Case of the Gasping Garbage while focusing on character actions and motivations, the sequence of events, citing textual evidence, temporal words, setting, plot, and theme.
-Writing: Begin a new personal narrative
-Spelling: base words and endings -ed, -ing, -er, -est
* = Challenge Words
Conventions: irregular plurals, verbs, and irregular verbs
Science: Stemscope Stations with Magnets
Math: Continue Topic 4: Relating Multiplication to Division
Homework:Students have been progressing nicely on their one minute timed test. Remember, it is imperative students study these at home for successful mastery of their multiplication facts.
Sign and return Assessment Logs (sent home Friday)
-20 min. of nightly reading. Put on reading log/sign
-Spelling words (according to Pretest brought home)
-Math fact practice (due next day)
-Writing: Google Classroom response to reading will be added to homework the week of Sept. 9th. It will be assigned before the weekend and due the following Friday morning.
