Week 30 April 9-13th

Team Urban,

We had an amazing week back at school.  This past week we listened to two stories called Back of the Bus, and Rosa Parks, Hero of Our Time. To help the students better understand from the perspective of the character, Rosa Parks, students wrote interview questions and then volunteered to take the "Hot Seat" to answer them based on their knowledge from these two books.  They did an amazing job!

Service Projects:
All third grade service projects will be due on Tuesday, May 1st and our YAPS penny war fundraiser has started. We are collecting change for Yaps (Yucaipa Valley Animal Placement Society). If you would like to help us please have your child bring in pennies to donate to our YAPS Jar. All pennies count as 1 point and all silver is subtracted from the total, so we want pennies for our jar and silver for the 3 other jars. Thank you for your awesome support! Our YAPS Read-A-Thon will take place the week of May 21st.

SBACC:
SBACC (state testing) will begin the week of May 7th and continue through May 18th. Please plan all appointments for after the school day and please be on time for school. Additionally, I am opening up the classroom for state test prep.  It will be every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:25am - 7:55am. The SBACC prep is totally optional but highly recommended for all. For those of you who want your kiddos to practice, but may be unable to attend, I will put the link on the sidebar to the right on this website. ---------------------------------------------------------->
