Week of March 20th

Happy Sunday,

One week left before we can relax and enjoy two weeks for Spring Break.  With the upcoming break, please help ensure your child is reading and ready to take AR tests when they get back from break.  If not, it will only make it that much harder to ensure success for the 3rd trimester.  As we approach the end of the year, let's encourage them to finish strong!

Student led conferences are this Thursday.  Students have been working hard gathering and analyzing their data and getting ready to show your their progress for the trimester. Show up anytime on Thursday between 1:30-4pm.  I will be closing the classroom at 4 to get my own kiddos to where they need to be after school.

Our focus this week will be:

Continue discussing how readers learn about a topic through literary and informational texts. We will also dicuss how writers support their point of view with reasons and evidence.
Conventions: quotation marks in dialogue and commas in dialogue
 Spelling: none  :)
Writing: Use facts and opinions to state who had a bigger impact on society about important people in history we have read about.

Math
Finish Topic #13 Fraction Equivalence and Comparison. We will be taking our Topic #13 assessment in math this week. Like Topic #12, kiddos may take it upon themselves to study Topic #13 at home. When kiddos did this for Topic #12 it paid off with incredible scores!

Homework-No Spelling and writing this week!
Please remind your kiddo to write the date in their Reading Log and turn in their math fact practice each day. Most are reaching this success expectation, but a few are being fined each week and are running low on cash.

Due every day:  -Reading 20 minutes (put on reading log date and sign)
           -Daily Fact Practice paper

Due on Friday:  -Reading Log and math facts sheet

Dates to Remember:
Monday, March 27 - Spring Break Starts
Thursday, March 23rd - Student-Led Conferences from 1:30-4pm
Tuesday, April 11 - Return to School

Have a great week!

Lovingly,
Mrs. Urban
