Week of March 13th

Happy Spring Forward Sunday!

Our class has been busy preparing our student-led conferences this week. This week we will continue gathering data and reviewing our progress as students get ready to share their growth and areas of challenge with you. A hard copy of the letter regarding conferences will be coming home Monday. I have also attached a digital copy for you to review at your convenience. Please note that student-led conferences are held open house style, and will not require you to schedule an appointment.  If you are unable to attend, all work and student report card will be sent home on Friday, March 24th.

We also took our Math Topic #12 assessment this week. Our class average score was 76% (which shows mastery for that area). I am so proud of their focus during this topic. Many kiddos took it upon themselves to study Topic #12 at home, and it paid off with incredible scores! With 4th grade around the corner, let's continue to encourage a growth mindset during this last trimester!

Our focus this week will be:
Begin reading The Little Black-Eyed Rebel, Brother Against Brother and Below Deck: A Titanic Story. We will discuss how readers learn about a topic through literary and informational texts. We will also discuss how writers support their point of view with reasons and evidence.
 Conventions: pronouns, possessives,
Spelling: vowel digraphs oo, ew, ue, ui
Writing: continue working on facts and opinions, as well as our student-led conferences.

-Topic 13 Pretest is available in Pearson for review and study.
