Week of Jan. 30th

Greetings,

We had wonderful week together! I continue to remind the kiddos that the second trimester will end quickly, and many kiddos are still trying to earn those AR points. Please take a moment to checkout your kiddos progress toward reaching their AR goal, and Pearson account to see their progress towards end of the year mastery. I will be emailing you if your child has met their goal so far for AR, as I will be rewarding them with their own box of Girl Scout cookies!  Look for that email coming soon!

With the end of trimester approaching, that means another CLASS MARKET!  It will be held on Feb. 24th from 12-1 in the classroom.  The first one was really successful and students had a great experience.  Let's do it again to make this one successful as well.

Learning Focus this week:
  1. Read City Homes and Deep Down. We will discuss how photographs, illustrations, and details help readers understand text. We will continue to discover how writers compare and contrast information and ideas.
  2. Conventions: adverbs, coordinating and subordinating conjunctions
  3. Spelling: prefixes
  4. Writing: autobiography
Math

Finish and assess on Topic #8: Use Strategies and Properties to Add and Subtract.
Students will also take a Cumulative Test on Topics 1-8 on Thursday. Feel free to review any topics they may have struggled with by logging into their Pearson account.
