Week of Dec. 5th

Greetings!

We had a great first week adjusting back to school and witnessing the shenanigans of our classroom elf Zippy. He had the students make friendship chains and hung them up one night to make a classroom tree!  He must have been hard at work into the wee morning hours and he fell out of the tree onto a students' desk and caused some disruption in a couple seats the following day! Silly Zippy!  We also have some festive lights in class thanks to Sarah our room mom, and a few other helpers from each class.

Our Holiday Performance is coming up on December 12th. We ask that students wear nice holiday attire that evening, but understand if you'd prefer they not ruin it the day of. During the day, they can wear their Dress to Success attire. Maybe their favorite red or green collared shirt the day of to keep things festive. December 12th is also Grandparent's Day. We will begin in the Lions' Den at 10am and come back to the classroom for a little craft. Recess that day will be later than normal, so please have your kiddo eat a good breakfast that morning.

Our focus this week will be:
  1. Begin reading On the Same Day in March. We will discuss how readers use text features to better comprehend tests, and identify main idea and supporting details. We will continue to discover how writers introduce and develop a topic with facts, details, and linking words.
  2. Conventions: adverbs, functions of adverbs, comparative and superlative adverbs.
  3. Spelling: CV/VC
